Johanna Grawunder

Johanna Grawunder joined Henge's roster of creative partners in 2025, contributing an experimental approach to light and colour to the brand's most recent collection.

Born in San Francisco in 1961, she studied architecture at the University of California, Berkeley, before relocating to Milan in 1985 to work alongside Ettore Sottsass at Sottsass Associati, where she remained a partner for over a decade.

Her large-scale light installation for the Cini Foundation in Venice remains one of her most widely exhibited works, cementing her reputation as one of the leading voices in architectural lighting design.
